30’s a Charm

Was the bestie’s birthday recently, and we had a good ole’ fashioned kind of celebration.Since it also fell during the 15 days of CNY this year, we went all-out retro ching-chong with a 10 course Chinese dinner at a super old school place in Chinatown. Since she’s ROM-ing later this year, there were many jokes of having her dinner at this place, complete with 80s style wedding gown – HUGE puffy sleeves, HUGE head pieces, complete with side-styled frizzy hair…Have your wedding here, please! Heh.

The yusheng was funny that day. Apparently. The company, even funnier…Found it all a little fishy.Ok, ok, couldn’t resist. Heh.

Adjourned to Bitters & Love after for drinks and cake. (And arm-wrestling and then some!)

Let the epic battle begin. (C & E not impressed…)A & J even more unimpressed…

Starry Starry Night

Recently attended the opening of Mediacorp’s new baby, ME@OUE. It’s a pretty cool concept – Japanese, French and Chinese cuisine all under one roof, by chefs Masayasu Yonemura, Laurent Peugeot and Justin Hor (that’s not one, but two Michelin starred chefs under one roof!).

Winter Wonderland

It’s back to Niseko once again – time to snowboard!! While it’s the superb powder snow that keeps me coming back here, the awesome food to be had is a close second. For our first dinner here, we went to this place that was featured in Anthony Bourdain’s show. Just a little off-tangent on Anthony Bourdain – I received his first book, ‘Kitchen Confidential’, as a gift years ago, before he was famous (the one where he mocked television ‘celebrity chefs’, and bascially said he’d never become one – haha!) and I was enthralled by his sense of adventure, his irreverent writing style, and the loving, detailed descriptions of food. If you have not read it, I highly recommend it. (Although his questionable principles on television, I’m not so sure of, heh.)Thanks to the foodie friends among our group, we made our way to this place, Raikuichi. I’ll let the pictures do the talking. =)

This place is most famous for its soba, and the chef (don’t you think he looks like an Asian Steve Jobs??) started making it right in front of us while we were mid-meal. The attention to detail and precision was pretty fascinating.

I’ll be back!

Dressed-down Leather

I love leather, but it can look a little too dressed-up for day sometimes. Slouchy tees are one of my loves as well (I have so many I am finding it hard to store them, opps!), so I decided to pair the two for an easy, comfy day look.

The resident neighbourhood kitty, Socks (the Lollies call him that because he has white feet, like socks!), wanted some camera-time too!

Florals & Sparkle

I’ve been so into printed & coloured jeans lately (so much more fun!) and I’m loving these floral ones from maryjulian. Also can’t wait to launch this sparkle pullover too – coming to you soon in 3 pretty, versatile tones!

Thanks Amanda for the Bimba & Lola addition to my arm swag!

Wore my Accessori Astaroth Skulls Connector ring to the 987fm studio earlier that day, and found Vernon A wearing a skull finger accessory too!

Have a lovely weekend with your loved ones!

Checks & Balance

I love the fashion of the Swingin’ 60s – hello, Mad Men, anyone? The 50s and early 60s dress shapes were all about femininity – many dresses of that period accentuated the hourglass silhouette.

However, perhaps due to the fact that I have nothing close to an hourglass shape, my favourite part of 60s fashion was the later part, when the mod side took centre stage.  I love Twiggy-esque silhouettes; mini-dresses, nude lips, Vivier flats…and Mary Janes rock!

Pssst. Peggy from Mad Men loves her checks, plaids and polka dots too!
