First Peek: Wedding Dress & Shoes

Awaiting the entire batch of photos from the wedding photographer we engaged on the day, but here are a few they have kindly rushed out for me!

First look at the dress and shoes. I actually had no idea what shoes to wear with the wedding gown. I had initially notions of wearing sparkly sneakers or striking red ones slippers (ala Dorothy in ‘The Wizard of Oz’, one of my favourite childhood stories!), but not only did Groomzilla seem extremely underwhelmed by the idea (to put it mildly), I also had trouble finding ones in these styles that I liked.

The period leading up to the wedding was extremely busy and stressful – work kept me busy and the preparations and tiny details seemed never-ending! There was hence no time to properly look for shoes; I just glanced into shop windows every time I found myself walking through malls. My dress designers were going mad as up to a week before the wedding, they weren’t sure what length to cut the dresses to as I had no idea what shoes, and more importantly, how high or low heels (or flats, as in the sneaker idea), I was planning to wear!

The good people from Bless Inc Asia Pte Ltd reached out to me, and like the quintessential fairy godmother in fairy-tales (how appropriate, given my ‘Dorothy’ aspirations), they presented me with the perfect solution! I love these Melissa Ultragirl + J. Maskrey flats with Swarovski crystal appliations – true to promise, they really made me feel like a modern-day Cinderella!

The icing on the cake? They are not only pretty as hell, they are super comfy!

Oh, and Groomzilla approved. 😉

Jade Seah Wedding | The Beginning

I got married to my love over the weekend, and I couldn’t be happier.

As the bride, I didn’t have much chance to snap any photos on my phone as I was running around trying to chat with everyone and make sure all guests were happy and taken care of; plus there were the dances and speeches to do! In the days following, I’ve been so happy to have received photos from friends and family who have kindly snapped shots on their devices. Special mention must be made to my uni buddy, Jeremy Nguee (now owner and chef at Preparazzi) who was a budding photographer back in the day at SMU. We worked together quite a bit that period and he later helped me shoot pictures for my online boutique. On my wedding day, true to his word, he came and shot some lovely pictures for me. Will share those tomorrow!

Another very special mention goes out to another friend, Ki’ern Tan, ex-editor at 8 Days magazine. He came, shot and edited this little wedding gift for me in less than two days. Slight delay on my side as my dear Groomzilla was undecided about me sharing it (he’s a very private person) but he finally came round when I told him it would be a real shame not to…so here it is! (Warning: You may not be able to watch this on mobile; view on your computer!)

(Ki’ern also chose one of my favourite songs as a backing track!) Music credits: You Belong to Me by Patsy Cline.

Thank you Ki’ern!

How to Mix Prints

Hello, stranger! I know I’ve been missing from this space for ages – so much still to share with you: London trip, Macau trip, Bangkok trip, plus the many hen’s parties and trips I’ve been blessed with at the end of 2014! Things have been crazy on this side with work and preparing for the wedding, but I will get down to sharing all that – just a matter of ‘when’. Heh.

New stuff coming on my YouTube channel soon as well, so make sure you’re subscribed so you know when that happens. =)

In the meantime, here’s an outfit post from awhile ago. I love prints and I find that it’s fun to mix them up a little every now and then! I think my mum still has problems with this concept – I once wore a striped shirt with a polka dot skirt and she asked, as if I’d gotten dressed in the dark and had made a mistake, “Dots and stripes? Really?” – and perhaps it was me who had gotten it wrong and looked like some crazy girl; but it’s just clothes at the end of the day. Who cares if you make a little ‘mistake’ sometimes?

If there are any rules to be followed at all, what I find is that when mixing prints, it helps if one print is monochrome. Another trick is to ‘break up’ the look with a neutral outer like a jacket or vest, or even with a neutral-coloured belt.

Let me know if you’d like a video on mixing prints, or on anything else you’d like. Hope you’re having a great start to 2015, and talk soon!

Neon Leaves

So much to be happy and thankful for today! The future sis-in-law just gave birth to a healthy baby; the twinnie and I finally settled and booked tickets and accommodation for our short cousins’ ‘hen’s trip’ of sorts together; and I am looking forward to a short getaway with my most-beloved people this very weekend. =)

Happy thoughts and happy times call for happy colours! Love this double layered midi – it’s neon leaves embroidered on organza; what a cool combination. Makes me want to party!
