Goodbye 2018 | Jade Seah

If I had to describe 2017, I’d say it was a year of change.

I lost someone so dear to me at the start of the year, and that really broke my heart. It was kind of this that reminded me of the transience of life, and made me take on a bit of a “YOLO” (You Only Live Once) mentality to life – which meant I decided to just go ahead to do things that I like, without thinking too long and hard about logical reasons not to.

This meant a year of really indulging my love for adventure and travel. I was lucky to go on some work trips, but many were trips just to explore, with some really impulsive ones. There was Shiga Kogen in Japan to snowboard, Everest Base Camp, and almost three weeks in Peru with the highlight being the hike to Machu Picchu.

Then there were many small trips to neighbouring places in Asia like to Bangkok (three times!), Chiang Mai, Cambodia, Ho Chi Minh (also three times!), Seoul in Korea, Bali (what’s with the three times…but yes, three times!), Phuket…I spent way too much on travel in 2018, but I guess in 2018, I learnt that time is the most precious commodity that can never be bought back, and one I want to spend well.

I managed to catch two people I look up to in 2018 as well, Tony Robbins and Gary Vee, and I am hoping to further improve as a person as we go into 2019.

I saw a therapist for the first time this year, something I have only shared with a few close friends (till this video!). It felt self-indulgent and silly; perhaps I saw it as a bit of a weakness, but I have found it helpful, and as I hope for more growth in 2019, I will continue to see her.

In 2019, I hope for more growth, but honestly, with the year it’s been, I just hope for peace and joy in the new year, for me but even more so for my loved ones.

New Office Space + Guns N’ Roses | Jade Seah Feb 2017

Hang with me this last leg of February!

Found a new office space, watched Guns N’ Roses live (OMG!) and headed to Blackcomb Whistler for a spot of snowboarding. Also, join me on my morning run and for a quick HITT workout.

Watch out for March vlogs out soon – even crazier times ahead!
2017 is passing way too fast, but living life at maximum speed is the way I like it.

Snowboarding in Whistler Canada | Jade Seah Travels

First time snowboarding in Whistler, Canada!

I live in sunny Singapore (truly in the tropics; we are just one degree north of the Equator!) where it is summer all year round, but when I first tried snowboarding years ago, I fell in love. I try to make at least one snow trip a year. This was my very first time to Canada, and my very first time snowboarding in Whistler. Have heard so much about the place, and I was not disappointed!

Winter Wonderland (part two)

So while everyone in Singapore complains about the terrible haze (I admit I am no exception!) and increasing PSI readings, I think one way to deal with it is to imagine yourself in a land where the air is fresh and clean. I miss snowboarding! The pals are already in the midst of planning not one, but two trips – hopefully I will be able to join them then. For now, have to contend myself with pictures and memories. =)

I miss waking up to this view!

Soon!!

Winter Wonderland

It’s back to Niseko once again – time to snowboard!! While it’s the superb powder snow that keeps me coming back here, the awesome food to be had is a close second. For our first dinner here, we went to this place that was featured in Anthony Bourdain’s show. Just a little off-tangent on Anthony Bourdain – I received his first book, ‘Kitchen Confidential’, as a gift years ago, before he was famous (the one where he mocked television ‘celebrity chefs’, and bascially said he’d never become one – haha!) and I was enthralled by his sense of adventure, his irreverent writing style, and the loving, detailed descriptions of food. If you have not read it, I highly recommend it. (Although his questionable principles on television, I’m not so sure of, heh.)Thanks to the foodie friends among our group, we made our way to this place, Raikuichi. I’ll let the pictures do the talking. =)

This place is most famous for its soba, and the chef (don’t you think he looks like an Asian Steve Jobs??) started making it right in front of us while we were mid-meal. The attention to detail and precision was pretty fascinating.

I’ll be back!
