#TerryJade2015 Wedding | Dinner Sneak Peek

It seems like 2015 is THE year for close ones to get married. Not only did I tie the knot with my love in January, I have a staggering EIGHT other weddings to attend this year, all close friends and family, no less. It’s a happy time!

I know it’s been almost six months since I got hitched, but this year has honestly been so busy, it’s crazy. I’m super thankful for all the work and opportunities, but it also means we haven’t had time to go on our honeymoon (looking at a honeymoon/first year anniversary rolled in one next year now) and yes, I have sat on sharing pictures for the wedding dinner too!

As I always say, better late than never, so here are some pictures!

Will share more thoughts and musings on weddings in a bit, plus snaps from the wonderful family and select friends in attendance (it was a small affair of just over a hundred people at dinner; I still hear Groomzilla’s voice saying, George Clooney only had a hundred people at his wedding…”).

But I digress. Here are some pictures (next batch in the next wedding post!).

As an ex-CHIJ (KATONG!) girl and with both of us Catholics, Chijmes seemed a fitting venue for its Catholic and convent heritage, and also for its old-school beauty, which both T and I love.

My cousin, Clare, has the voice of an angel, and we were stoked she obliged us by singing our march-in song to perfection. My new sis-in-law even said she prefers Clare’s version to the original!

I had never intended to change during dinner (rather spend that time catching up with loved ones and eating!) but realise I had to as T and I had our first dance- and it ended up being more difficult than I’d bargained for, lol! My dove grey shift dress, with its long strands of beads, was impossible to dance that sort of dance in. (And here I thought we would just do a simple and awkward sway to the music, haha!)

Thankful to Patrick of The Wedding Present for loaning me this gorgeous lace applique beauty of a gown, with a full, paneled, silk skirt. I fell in love with this after having worn it in Mauritius for a Her World Brides magazine shoot prior!

The bridal party included these three family members close to me: my cousin, Liz, who was born just two hours after me, and who is also getting married this year(!) plus my two brothers who are very, very low-key and who generally hate being in the limelight. They were horrified I asked them to make a speech at my wedding but agreed to be a part of the bridal party, and helped out in the behind-the-scenes, quiet way that they prefer – my older brother filled his entire vehicle with balloons and props from the wedding lunch!

They sure had a grand old time pelting their sister with confetti at our march-in, even though I’d told them explicitly to “throw UPWARDS”. Brothers!

I think all our friends enjoyed this death by confetti, actually!

Much thanks to dear Tim Oh for playing emcee that evening. My mum’s a big fan of this fellow Peranakan!

Started off with a champagne toast, only we didn’t want everyone to just watch while we popped the bubbly. Instead, we had a bottle of bubbly at every table and invited everyone to pop their corks (hur hur) with us – avoiding the expensive Chijmes chandeliers, of course! (We were warned several times of the cost in damages should anything have happened…) Happy to say that everyone had fun and that no chandeliers were harmed in the process!

And no sedate westen-style “cheers” for us – we are totally for the way more raucous and festive Asian style of toasting. “YAAAAAAAAM Seng!”, everyone!

Tim was definitely into it!

My dearest dad who has seen me through good times and bad, happy times and sad. He’s not been a fan of some guys I’ve dated (props to him for never explicitly saying so though and he even denies it to this day; he’s rather an open book though, haha) but he and T get on swimmingly and he was so happy that night – I think perhaps dad thought I’d never settle down, heh.

Of course, there had to be an Ah Lian moment, lol. This was in response to the first of the speeches…

Ah Boy vs. Mata Fight Over Girl: Dorothy Perkins Style Face-off | ChicPeek Ep 56

2 hunks + 1 babe = 1 very HOT episode of ChicPeek!

Benjamin Kheng (¼ of The Sam Willows and male lead in ‘Ah Boys to Men, The Musical’) goes against Daren Tan (star of the movie ‘That Girl in Pinafore’ and who also stars in Channel 5’s ‘Mata Mata’) in a Style Face-off to impress a girl!

These two look good, but do they know what women want? I challenge them to find an outfit for blogger Jessica Tham (tippytapp) – but they have to go through a series of physical challenges first!
